MINNEAPOLIS: Day 4

Today we started off by helping out at Community Emergency Service. It is essentially a food bank on steroids. Many of us sorted food while others cleaned up and still others prepared for the CES' 40th year celebration. Afterwords we went back to Little Earth to continue the VBS that we had been running there. Josh Adams and I, instead of working at the VBS, went to a local park and ran a "Hoops Ministry" where we played basketball with some of the kids from the neighborhood (we did this because not all kids, middle school boys in particular, aren't huge fans of finger painting rainbows). One of the kids we were playing with was named Tim. Tim stood out not because of his insanely cool hair, but because of his calm demeanor and clean language. After playing for a while, a lot of the kids left but Tim stuck around. I was shooting around with him when we started talking. I asked him "What do you want to be when you grow up?" and "Who all lives in your house?" just to get the conversation rolling before moving on to more serious questions such as "Do you believe in heaven?" and "What do you think will happen to you when you die?" To the latter he responded that he didn't know. I went on to explain the gospel to him and unlike many younger kids I've seen the gospel shared with, he seemed attentive and understanding. We prayed the Salvation prayer and I gave him advice on what to do moving forward. Tim was just buzzing with excitement. When we had to go, he ran home to go read his Bible. I would like to ask for all of you to keep Tim in your prayers, praying specifically that he will find someone to mentor him in his young faith. Also pray for energy for the team as lack of sleep is beginning to take its toll and for God to continue to open doors for us. Thank You for your support. It is most appreciated.
