ATLANTA - Day 5

WOW! What a jam packed week we have had so far! God is doing great things through us in so many different ways. In the morning, we split up into two different groups. The first group goes to a Summer Camp for local kids in different apartment complexes around Clarkston. It is held at a local church and is for kids between 1st and 7th grade. It is a unique experience as we are not allowed to directly talk about Jesus, because it is "summer Camp," and not a VBS. At story time we can talk about God and tell Old Testament stories. The kids are great and we are really enjoying the experience. The second group goes spiritual mapping. This consists of knocking on people's doors and asking a survey. Hopefully we are invited inside and can strike up conversations. God has really worked through us in this experience and has guided us through our new relationships.
In the afternoon we split us again, one group does construction around the apartment and playground, while the other teaches ESL classes (English as a Second Language). For ESL we split up into partners and go to apartments to teach families in their homes. Their English speaking levels range quite a bit between different households. Some are learning simple words and phrases, while others are having conversations. If you have never done ESL in the past, it is quite an experience.
Overall, God has been doing great things through us and has been moving in our lives. Please pray for the families we are talking to and that they will be open and willing to talk to us. Also, please pray for a renewed sense of energy! We have not been sleeping for very long and out days have been long and full. God is great and full of love. We are so thankful for what he has provided for us and for the opportunities we have in Clarkston.
